The Unified Arizona Veterans Newsletter

Began in January 2024, by Director of Communication Jhennicea Morrow, under the direction of Chair Travis Burns.

The Newsletter started with a simple, but important mission: to serve as an outlet for veteran-focused news, events, programs, opportunities. Jhennicea wanted to allow for an open dialog, where veteran service organizations, veteran groups, and veterans themselves, as well as caregivers, can submit to. Which is why the newsletter is called "The Conversation" as he goal is open communication. This allows veterans to learn about projects and events that are veteran-focused. Or, as Chair Travis Burns put it, the "UAV newsletter started as part of the UAV mission to become the premier information resource for anyone who is involved in the Arizona veteran community."

Jhennicea Morrow's goal is to ensure that she serves all veterans, regardless of race, gender, disability, or need.

We are excited to move forward with this newsletter, serving veterans at all stages of life and needs. As your voice throughout Arizona, our hopes and intentions are to bring benefit through communication. In this newsletter, you will learn about events and dates, get reminders, learn about legislative updates, and have the peace of mind that you're keeping up to date with state-wide veteran-focused information.

On this website, you'll be able to see past newsletters (archives) that have gone out and view the calendar which has a listing of the events we're informed about. You can even submit your own event to us to put on the calendar, the newsletter, and on our social media. There is also a form where you can submit entries, such as events, news, and questions you might want answered by other veterans and veteran groups.

Entries are due the 22nd of every month.

About the Unified Arizona Veterans

Unified Arizona Veterans (UAV) established on the 28th of December, 1981 at the American Legion Post #1 in Phoenix as an initiative led by the American Legion (TAL), the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) and the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) departments of Arizona. The mission was simple: collectively promote veteran-related affairs endorsed by many of its member veterans service organizations (VSOs) throughout Arizona.

The Unified Arizona Veterans is a registered organization operating under the authority of:

  • Arizona Corporation Commission file # 17391263
  • IRS Regulation 501(c)(3)
  • Federal EIN # 90-0914161
  • Our mailing address is P. O. Box 34338, Phoenix, AZ 85067

Now numbering over four dozen VSOs, UAV continues actively proposing, supporting and endorsing legislation, administrative or other actions which furthers the general welfare and well-being of all Arizona military veterans.

The UAV’s dedication to starting and supporting activities and objectives which stimulate love of the country and the American flag. Our organization has a firm commitment to defend the honor and integrity of our nation, the Constitution of the United States of America, and especially to the honored veterans who served, as well as their caretakers and family.

Our intention is that the UAV provides a key conduit of information to all member organizations through monthly meetings, our social media outreach, our calendar, newsletter, and our close working relationship with the Arizona Department of Veterans’ Services. Among our activities, the UAV manages and operates the Arizona Veterans Hall of Fame (AVHOF) which it founded in 2001 to recognize the civic contributions of our Arizona veterans.

Opening doors for veterans is an important aspect of that intention, which is why the newsletter website has a list of resources, and its design was done with the mission of being an accessible website for all, even those with visual and other such limitations. It is also why the UAV has scholarship opportunities for veterans and their families.
